No matter the terminology, interstitial, jump page, landing page, you may have heard at least one of these terms for a page needed in addition to your website when you want to drive traffic to what ever you're advertising. These effective pages are used in a varitety of ways depending on the client specifications/goals. Some clients like to use them for promotional purposes while others data collection, forms, etc.
I started desiging these type of pages for Blockbuster when the DVD release of Pokemon came out and they were promoting it. This led to the Blockbuster Entertainment Awards "microsite" which typically is smaller and dedicated to single topic items. Ironically, soon after advertisers started printing terminolgy pamphlets to try and keep everyone in the loop of emerging techologies and their terms.
